letters from barcelona (#8)

Our dear little ones...

Have we told you today that we love and adore you? Well, we do, each of you. Although we are enjoying our time together here in Barcelona we are truly thrilled to return home and give each of you a big kiss and hug.

Our Friday just ended, and we're relaxing in our brand new hotel room. We didn't like our last hotel at all. It was too far from the excitement and history of the city, the service was bad, the food was worse and the rooms didn't have carpet. Thankfully we are much happier at the Hotel Avenida Palace, which is in the heart of the city. It had a beautiful lobby, which mommy loves. Since we checked in we've spent several hours down there reading and watching the rain. We've been here for 8 days and it has rained every single one of them. Being that we're from southern California that much rain feels like some sort of record!

After waking up at 12:40pm, we moved all of our gear over to the new hotel. Somehow we have collected more stuff than will fit in our suitcases. Mommy still likes to shop, even in Spain...who knew!? :) This is in addition to the two dozen complimentary bottled waters that mommy had daddy stuff in my backpack. Bottled water is a hot commodity over here...since people don't tend to drink water straight from the fridge like we do. We're very lucky and blessed.

Today we did more touring and saw some really cool OLD stuff, including an architecturally fascinating hospital and the famous Gaudi apartments, which had a rooftop view of the city. As usual, your mommy likes to take pictures right next to the edge even though she knows how deathly afraid of heights Daddy is. It gives her a good laugh, which is funny because she is just as afraid, but I don't try to push her closer and closer to the edge just to get the perfect picture. :) We are having a lot of fun and laughing a lot.

Tonight for dinner, we resisted the urge to order domino's pizza, although we did breakdown and have chicken mcnuggets and french fries for lunch, and found a charming little Italian restaurant that was owned and operated by actual Italians, or at least that's what they said. It was surprisingly very good, and normal...no fish heads or crawling lobster....nope....just good ole pizza, lasagna, salad and Coca Cola Light (that's what they call diet coke around these parts).

We found some more yummy pastry shops and daddy insisted that we stop and enjoy.

Tomorrow is our last full day in Barcelona and then we come home, we love you and can't wait to hear about the many adventures that you have had.

Love you always,

Mom and Dad.
