buenas noches mis amores!!! (that means good evening my loves...)
today the sun came out. we watched it rise over the ocean, and it was beautiful. daddy went to work for the last day (yeah!!!) and it flew by. mommy slept in (surprise, surprise) and finally got ready then went somewhere amazing!!!!
la sagrada familia! this was the place mommy went. it has been being built for well over 100 years, and it still is not done! it will be at least another 20 years! it is a HUGE spanish/christian temple. a famous architect (gaudi) drew most of it's plans and and there are sculptures of Jesus throughout it. one side of the temple shows his crucifixion and resurrection, it is very celebratory & ornate. while the other side shows a huge nativity celebrating his birth (christmas), this side is very bare & is meant to look like bones as to not take away from the sadness and somberness of the crucifixion. inside there are pillars that are as high as the biggest buildings and they are shaped like trees, so you feel like you are in a big white forest.
mommy rented headphones and listened to the music and the stories that told all about the temple. it isn't the same as our beautiful lds temples where we get married, but, it was pretty cool... and ginormous! it started to get cold, and just as mommy was starting to shiver, daddy showed up and gave her his jacket and a coca lite. yeah for mommy!!! she gave daddy her headphones then went to the gift shop to buy pictures of the temple to show you when you get home =).
daddy spent almost an hour looking at the temple also while mommy snuck over to starbuck's (we found one!) and had a tea and read on her kindle. she was pretty stoked. we talked about how you kids would LOVE to see this and we think we should come back to la sagrada familia in 20 years with all of you!
the next thing we did was hop in a taxi and we went off to el museo de xocolata (the museum of chocolate). we bought our tickets and guess what they were? CHOCOLATE BARS! can you believe it? daddy ate his ticket so they almost didn't let him in. inside the museum there were sculptures made out of white, dark, and milk chocolate (we took lots of pictures to show you). they told us all about where chocolate comes from and which countries eat the most of it. we in the us were number 5 or 6 in the eating category! belgium, france, uk were the top three. anyway, after the chocolate museum, we had another xocolata suiza (hot, thick chocolate with cream) and big ham ordered a milkshake (but it was chocolate milk....oh well)!
after the museum, we walked around the city. it started to rain, so we had to duck inside some shops. we found a few bakeries and daddy had to buy something from every one of them =). then, we found a few treats for you guys, that we can't wait to give you!
we ate at a noodle place called udon. we had dumplings (like what kung fu panda makes) and we slurped our noodles just like he does in the movie! it was muy bueno. definitely the best food we have had since we have been in spain! after dinner we got in a taxi and drove back to our hotel the hotel front maritim and daddy asked for a recibo from the cab driver (a receipt). we walked up our stairs because we were so full and we could hardly breathe by the time we got to the 6th floor. uh-oh. too much chocolate!!!
now daddy is snoring and mommy is writing you this email! we both love you, miss you and can't wait to hug & kiss you!
grace, we are so happy you love softball, but, you are still going to do dance because you made a commitment to do the recital. don't worry, we have worked it out with the coach so you will not miss one game!!! we are so proud of you! it is going to be fun.
frelly, i watched the video of you singing at the valentines show, you looked so pretty in your blue dress, and sang so beautiful. i loved seeing your little dimples! i hope you are being a good girl =)
hanky panky. i miss your snuggles and your little high voice. i am sad without my little buddy. give your sisters lots of kisses for me please and take good care of them since you are the man of the house! i hope you and sophie are having fun together and not torturing bentley too much =).
