221. 17 miracles. the movie weaves the stories of two handcart companies (willie & martin) & the miracles that occured during these treks. my ancestor, ephraim knowlton hanks was the first person to show up & give much needed aid to the martin handcart company after traveling alone through a blizzard following a dream. during the freezing night he found & killed a buffalo, cut the meat from it to feed the starving company & survived by sleeping inside the buffalo's hide. my mom often reminds my sister's & i that we can do anything because we are of "pioneer stock". this movie reminds me what that really means. i am proud to be a Latter-Day-Saint & eternally grateful for the sacrifices made by these amazing brothers & sisters.
